Dr Marcin Mizianty, VP Data Science, AltaML, holds a PhD in Software Engineering and Intelligent Systems from the University of Alberta, Canada, and an MSc in Applied Computing Science from AGH University of Science and Technology, Poland. He has published over 30 scientific, peer-reviewed publications and has over a decade of practical academic and industry experience with Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Big Data, and Predictive Analytics. Marcin has a passion for building and growing high performing Data Science teams, and for managing and coordinating Data Science and Big Data products. Currently, he is leading Data Science initiatives at AltaML as VP of Data Science. Marcin is also highly involved in Edmonton’s Data Science community, has co-founded the Edmonton DS meetup, and is teaching Data Science at North Alberta Institute of Technology. |

Wei Cai, Assistant Professor, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Dr. Wei Cai is currently an assistant professor of Computer Engineering, School of Science and Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He is serving as the director of the Human-Cloud Systems Laboratory, as well as the director of the CUHK(SZ)-White Matrix Joint Metaverse Laboratory. Wei received Ph.D., M.Sc. and B.Eng. from The University of British Columbia (UBC), Seoul National University and Xiamen University in 2016, 2011 and 2008, respectively. Before joining CUHK-Shenzhen, he was a postdoctoral research fellow in Wireless Networks and Mobile Systems (WiNMoS) Laboratory at UBC. He has completed research visits at Academia Sinica (Taiwan), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and National Institute of Informatics, Japan. Dr. Cai has co-authored more than 50 journal and conference papers in the area of cloud computing, edge computing, interactive multimedia and blockchain systems. He is serving as an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing. He was a recipient of the 2015 Chinese Government Award for the Outstanding Self-Financed Students Abroad, the UBC Doctoral Four-Year-Fellowship from 2011 to 2015, and the Brain Korea 21 Scholarship. He also received the best student paper award from ACM BSCI2019 and the best paper awards from CCF CBC2018, IEEE CloudCom2014, SmartComp2014, and CloudComp2013. |

Dr. Anup Basu received the Ph.D. degree in CS from the University of Maryland, College Park, USA. He originated the use of foveation for image, video, stereo, and graphics communication in the early 1990s; an approach that is now widely used in industrial standards. He pioneered the active camera calibration method emulating the way the human eyes work and showed that this method is far superior to any other camera calibration method. He pioneered a single camera panoramic stereo, and several new approaches merging foveation and stereo with application to 3D TV visualization and better depth estimation. His current research applications include multi-dimensional image processing and visualization for medical, consumer and remote sensing applications, multimedia in education and games, and robust wireless 3D multimedia transmission. He has been a Professor with the CS department at UofA since 1999. He has also held the following positions: Visiting Professor, University of California, Riverside, 20032004; Guest Professor, Technical University of Austria, Graz, in 1996; Director, Hewlett-Packard Imaging Systems Instructional Laboratory, UofA, 1997 to 2000. He has also been an NSERC, iCORE and Castle Rock Research Chair, and is a Fellow of the American Neurological Association. |

Dr. Bruce Matichuk received his BSc. (1986), M.Sc. (2007), and Ph.Dc (2008-2011) from the University of Alberta with a research focus on Artificial Intelligence. Bruce has worked as a founder of several AI based companies including Celcorp, Poynt, Salu Design Group (Health Gauge) and Aidant Intelligent Technology. Bruce’s systems have been installed at many fortune 500 companies including Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, Holiday Inn, American Airlines and others. Research interests include biometric estimation with Neural Nets, image recognition, behavior analysis and intelligent agents. Bruce has published patents and research papers in AI and regularly provides talks on the emergence of AI Systems. Bruce is currently the CTO and Co-Founder of Health Gauge and also the CTO of AIML Innovation Inc. (CSNX:AIML), a public company focusing on AI/ML products. |

Dr. Zehua Wang obtained his Ph.D. degree in electronic and computer engineering from UBC, University of British Columbia, Canada in 2016 and stayed on to do postdoctoral research. From 2017 to 2019, he served as the chief scientist of RightMesh in Canada. During his tenure, the company was commended by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Wang Zehua is currently a research professor in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, The University of British Columbia, Canada. Dr. Wang is the first professor in UBC who designed and offered two blockchain courses at UBC, including Foundation of Blockchain and Blockchain Software Engineering. He currently supervises several master and doctoral students. His research interests include privacy preserving machine learning, state channel technology, and decentralized authentication and authorization. Xinyao (Alvin) Sun, Ph.D. Candidate, is the Tech Lead of the Remote Sensing Research Team at MRC, and Research Advisor for White Matrix Inc. Xinyao received his M.Sc. and B.Sc. from the University of Alberta in 2017 and 2015 respectively. Before his Ph.D. study, Xinyao had over 5-year freelance experience in industrial applications as a full-stack software developer on mobile and HCI applications. He conducted an internship with TCL Research America, San Jose in 2015, where he used Drone technology as an intermediator in an indoor environment. He is the first contributor in 4 US patents relating to Computer Vision, Human Body Detection and Face Verification. He co-founded Bi.Link & Bi9.cn Inc, which is blockchain-based startups in Shanghai, providing a digital asset management platform that had helped customers earn $1.5 million profit in 2018. The company also built a decentralized digital asset lending and exchange system that hosted on Ethereum and EOS public Blockchains. His current research focuses on using Deep Learning and Signal Processing techniques to accelerate the satellite signal processing pipeline for Wide Area Monitoring from aerospace. His proposed DeepInSAR model has been successively operationalized (by 3vGeomoatic Inc. Vancouver) to serve clients worldwide. He is also mentoring Multimedia Program projects on computational consensus blockchain, smart contract automation, decentralized financial system and cross-chain security. |

Neha Raj is a Product Management professional with a deep interest in emerging technologies. She is VP at Citi Bank and manages products for the Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory division. Previously she has worked as Delivery Manager at nanopay Corporation (2019 Blockchain Company of the year). Prior to nanopay, she worked for HSBC and Bank Of America in product development and commercialization. Neha is an Engineer and a Business Graduate and likes wearing multiple hats at work. In the last 10 years, she has worked as a Software Developer, Business Analyst, Scrum Master, Client Delivery Manager, Commercialization Manager and Product Manager. She lives in Toronto, Canada, and has recently picked up coloring as an activity to beat the pandemic blues. |

Carlos Garcia (Chief Payment Operations Officer at nanopay Corporation) Carlos leads the strategy and execution of nanopay’s global network expansion, directly connecting to payments ecosystems and/or via partnerships, ensuring the alignment of company controls across all products and functions are compliant with all required regulations and policies. He also manages the daily core functions as partner integration and production systems, payment operations, customer success and Fraud/AML teams. Prior to joining nanopay, Carlos was a Senior Manager for Deloitte working on the Payments Modernization team. Before Deloitte, Carlos spent 12 years at Western Union Company, as Vice President of Technology Delivery and Operations for Americas and Europe, responsible for developing an omnichannel network responsible for 80 % of the business revenue. Carlos holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from the FGV Business School of São Paulo, Brazil, and several compliance, security, ethics, and technical training courses offered through Western Union and Deloitte University. |
